2025 Mustang GTD: The Most Powerful Production Mustang Yet

The Ford Mustang GTD

The 2025 Mustang GTD stands out as the most advanced Mustang Ford has ever created, breaking new ground in performance. With an astonishing 815 horsepower, 664 pound-feet of torque, and a top speed of 202 mph, it sets a new record as the fastest street-legal Mustang to date.

Unmatched Power and Cutting-Edge Engineering

The Mustang GTD is designed to perform at the highest level, boasting features such as active aerodynamics, carbon-ceramic brakes, and an inboard rear suspension with semi-active dampers. These elements contribute to the GTD’s goal of achieving a sub-seven-minute lap time at the Nürburgring, one of the most challenging tracks in the world.

“We’ve been laser-focused since day one to make the Mustang GTD the first-ever supercar with world-class performance and the soul of a Mustang,” said Greg Goodall, Chief Program Engineer for the Mustang GTD. “The heart of the GTD is its supercharged 5.2-liter V8, offering more horsepower per liter than the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.”

Innovative V8 Engine with Advanced Features

The 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine in the GTD is a significant step forward from previous Mustang engines. It is the first Mustang to feature a dry-sump oil system, which ensures consistent engine lubrication even during intense cornering. This system also allows the engine to reach a slightly higher maximum speed of 7,650 rpm, an increase of 100 rpm compared to earlier models. Further enhancements, such as a revised intake and exhaust system, a standard titanium exhaust, and a smaller supercharger pulley, help achieve the impressive power output.

Aerodynamics and Performance Optimization

The Mustang GTD isn’t just about raw power; it is also engineered for maximum aerodynamic efficiency. It includes a Drag Reduction System (DRS) that adjusts the rear wing’s angle and activates flaps under the front of the car to balance speed and downforce based on driving conditions. This sophisticated system helps the vehicle maintain optimal performance, whether racing down a straightaway or navigating a sharp corner.

“We’ve combined the work of talented engineers and designers, as well as an extremely capable driver, with Mustang GTD’s technology, power, and aerodynamics,” added Goodall. “We can’t wait to deliver on our sub-seven-minute promise to GTD customers.”

With its groundbreaking engineering, the 2025 Mustang GTD sets a new standard for performance, establishing itself as a true supercar with the unmistakable spirit of a Mustang.
